I finally got the basement workshop finished, pulled a blank off the rack and got cutting. What a mess styrofoam makes. This 1st board will be for Dylan, my 8 year old. I can't wait to take him on the water next spring and then hopefully get him surfing quickly! In a couple of years, he'll be teaching me a thing or two.
I put a heavy V in the tail section, figuring a smaller rider could use help getting the board on rail. No fat, pop-out rails on this bad boy; real surfboard rails. Kids learn fast, and I want this to be something he will grow into. This will be great for flat water paddles with Mom and Dad, but the performance characteristics are there as soon as he's ready to tap into them. He should be good on this board until he's 14 years old or so.
Now for the hard part...glassing. I may contract out the first few and watch the process before I try myself. I hope to have 3 done by the first week of December.
